Art

Art workshops are designed to inspire confidence and creativity using a variety of different materials and techniques. They are ideal for beginners and those who like to ‘dabble’ as you start to relax you will find that your creativity starts to flow. These sessions are fun! Definitely not strict step by step demonstrations in watercolour.

Concentrate on learning to ‘look and see’ with pencils, paints, charcoal, pastels, collage, before choosing your preferred way of working. With a good grounding in different techniques and through structured discovery you will soon find a personal means of expression. Even a complete novice will soon feel at ease as confidence increases. Art materials are provided but guests may bring their own sketchbook if they wish

Karen will guide you carefully to develop your strengths. For the more experienced there is ‘time and space’ to develop your own eye..

In France you can choose to work from still life, imagination or the inspiring local environment (church, cafes, rooftops, the village square, rolling countryside…) We will not be copying from photographs. Please look in the Gallery section of the website to see past guests work from observation.

A new environment and interchange of ideas will broaden your horizons and break through mental barriers.Teaching content is balanced with demonstrations and active practical sessions with time for reflection. Plenty of time is given for group and individual attention.

You will find that the balance of work, rest and play will rejuvenate you and send you home buzzing with ideas.

Karen spends the winter months developing her own  collages in her studio in Cambridge. You can see her work each July with Cambridge Open Studios www.cambridgeopenstudios.co.uk and at Easter with the Cambridge Drawing Society  www.geocities.com/CamDrawSoc  or on her website www.karenstampercollage.com

Collage workshops run throughout the year. Please  email for information.
