Saturday 28th July – Saturday 4th August
Saturday 11th August – Saturday 18th August
Karen’s workshops are designed to inspire confidence and creativity.
They are ideal for beginners who need motivation as well as those with experience but looking for fresh inspiration. These sessions are hands on, adventurous and fun! Definitely not strict step by step demonstrations in one particular style; you will soon be actively involved.
The rewards are immeasurable, by being totally absorbed in a beautiful, stimulating environment, with shared experiences and ideas, you will broaden your horizons and open your eyes to new ways of working. My aim is to reinforce your sense of individuality and to allow you space to create your own work. Each morning session will be a balance of teacher led exercises and hands on practical sessions with time for reflection – as well as tea and biscuits!
” I have produced more in one week than a whole year at home! It is amazing, I started the first morning a little apprehensive and by lunch we all had three pieces on the wall. The time just flew by, I was so absorbed.”
We will take inspiration from still life, the human figure and the local environment (the house, cafes, rooftops, the village square, rolling countryside). You certainly will not be copying from photographs. Karen will encourage you to ‘look, see and feel’ with pencils, pastels, paints, charcoal, collage before choosing your preferred way of working. We will explore and ‘demystify’ a range of materials and techniques through structured discovery so that you will soon be totally engaged and find your personal means of expression.
Karen will direct, support and challenge you carefully, to bring out skills that you already have and develop your strengths. Even a complete novice will soon feel at ease as confidence increases and the creative juices start to flow. For the more adventurous, there will be ample opportunity to develop your work further; plenty of time is given for group and individual attention. Drawing on the sense of community and new friends, you will also find encouragement when you share your work and ideas with others.
“I did not know what to expect from this holiday but I must say it has gone very quickly and was really special. It has provided me with an opportunity to break from my hectic routine and tune in to my creative side. Karen, you are really able to tune into individual needs, I have a great respect for what you do here.”
An extensive range of materials are provided for your use,you do not need to bring anything unless you wish to.
Here are some of our favourite workshops from last year. Each morning you will build on skills from the previous day.
