Karen Stamper’s art work
COLLAGIST
Born in Yorkshire, I attended Art College in Yorkshire then headed off to sunnier climates - France, Greece, Turkey, India, New Zealand, Cuba….
My work is in collage, a mix of tissue paper, prints, stamps, packaging, envelopes, posters, and labels, scraps of lettering, drawings and photographs. They are bright and colourful. I want my viewers to be transported back to that café in the square early morning or that view from a shady balcony and to feel the warmth of a crumbling painted wall.
My work has been used for magazine illustrations and book covers. I have taught art in Cambridge schools for the last 12 years. I am now a partner in ACY Holidays.
