Sketchbooking  in Italy

This a short break from Sunday to Thursday. Please arrive on the Saturday afternoon/evening. All you need to bring is your sketchbook and favourite drawing materials. I will have a small collection of materials too. From the village there are stunning views across the valley: in the village there are crooked streets, cafes, churches and so many roof top views.

Each day will start with breakfast, then it is sketching time until lunch. The afternoons are free for you to continue sketching or explore the area. There is an afternoon meet up time (5pm)to share sketches, ideas and techniques.. Early evening is the time for aperitifs and a well earned dinner.

There is only one ‘hotel’ in Farindola: Altrocanto, a beautiful boutique hotel with five double rooms, run by Thomas and  Marco, (bed and breakfast). The second accommodation I have is a family house:this is much more informal, two twin rooms, make your own breakfast. For three of the evenings we will eat together at Altrocanto, (four courses plus wine) leaving one evening free for you to choose.

“A shot in the arm for a ‘relapsed’ sketcher, wonderful company and gorgeous food too! I feel refreshed, ready to join the fray.”

Spring and early Autumn brings endless blue skies and sunshine, but be prepared for cooler weather too. It is easy to fly to Pescara from Stansted airport with Ryanair. Another option is to fly/train to Rome and then catch a train to Penne (the nearest small town to Farindola)

“One of the reasons I kept returning to France with Karen was the short journey time and the fact that she can help with advice about travelling. I usually travel on my own so it is very reassuring. I am so looking forward to Italy this Spring” is a fantastic train travel website
